What you need to know about Sandy Hook BioBlitz 2016:
The BioBlitz was held at the Sandy Hook Unit of Gateway National Recreation Area in Highlands, New Jersey. The Base Camp was located in the Fort Hancock Parade Grounds immediately behind the American Littoral Society Headquarters, 18 Hartshorne Drive, Highlands, NJ 07732 [map, directions]. "Base Camp" was where scientists/expert naturalists and volunteers checked-in before each survey and was the location where all surveys and public programs begin. It was also the place for scientists/expert naturalists and volunteers to check-in after each survey, and where refreshments were found between surveys.

Saturday September 24 at 1:30pm. The BioBlitz concluded with a concert featuring "The John Boys" from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM and closing remarks at 1:30 PM.
All Scientists/Expert Naturalists and Volunteers must check-in at Base Camp during the event and sign a Volunteer form. Pre-registration on this website helps us know how many volunteers will participate in the BioBlitz and ensures that you will have access to all the information you need to enjoy the BioBlitz.
The BioBlitz Base Camp opened Friday, September 23, 2016 from noon to 10pm and on Saturday September 24, 2016 from 5:30am to 1pm. The BioBlitz ended at 1pm on Saturday, September 24, 2016.
Surveys began at 1:00, 5:00 and 8:00pm on Friday September 23, 2016 and 6:00, 8:00 and 10:00am on Saturday, September 24, 2016. You are welcome to participate in as many surveys as you want. Please arrive at Base Camp at least 10-15 minutes before the survey start time.
